Reflection Paper
  • Sample Trigger Questions
  • The purpose of the reflection paper is to view the learning processes that have taken place throughout the course.  In this paper you are NOT to dictate what was learned each week.
    • NOT GOOD
      • "This week I learned the difference between syntax and logic errors as described on page 14 in the Big Java book."
  • Rather, you are to write about your learning processes for the particular week.
    • GOOD
      • "This week two different types of errors were discussed.  I had expected that error messages would always be given when an error occurred.  What I found, however, was that error messages are only given for syntax errors.  In the event of a logic error the program must first determine that there is an error and then figure out how to fix it.  This was quite an ah-ha moment for me.  Now I understand why there are the potential for bugs when I buy software at the store."
  • One of the course managers for this course prepared a Power Point presentation to help identify a "good vs. bad" presentation.  Please take a moment to view this presentation before you start working on your paper - and also before you submit your final version.
  • When writing your paper, you are required to follow the APA formatting rules.  If you refer to the book or any other source, an in-text citation should be included along with a matching reference on the References page at the end of the document.
  • The reflection paper is not due until Week 13.  However, if you wait until Week 13 to write your paper you may find that it is difficult to remember all that has occurred throughout the course.  You will find it much easier to write your final paper if you have been jotting down notes or writing a paragraph of two as you complete each week.
Here's a great link for help with correctly formatting APA references and citations.
