About the program

The industry is trending to more and more data-driven nowadays. As businesses are becoming significantly reliant on data, analytics is reshaping business operations and enabling new revenue streams. As a result, many traditional occupations are exposed to analytics as well as many new jobs have been created in this field. The Data Analytics and Business Analytics Minors are offered for individuals who are interested in adding the fundamental analytics skills to their majors.

The curriculum for the Data Analytics Minor and Business Analytics Minor involves development of essential analytics principles and skills. Each minor requires 16 credit hours.

Business Analytics Minor

With prerequisites MATH 215 (or MATH 160) and PF106 completed, the Business Analytics Minor is designed for current students in non-technical majors with an opportunity to gain necessary analytics skills while majoring in their programs. Students learn to manipulate, visualize, and analyze data through a sequence of courses, apply basic analytics methods to solve business problems, and effectively communicate the results. The minor offers the convenience and flexibility of quality online/face-to-face/hybrid education, expert instructors with relevant and real-world experience, and strong student support from dedicated faculty, tutors, and advisors.

Graduates of the minor program will be able to:

1. Collect, clean, prepare and visualize data to support business decision making
2. Identify and analyze patterns in business data
3. Apply appropriate analytics modeling to solve business challenges
4. Communicate analytics results visually and effectively for business scenarios

The curriculum includes:

• DATA-300 Introduction to Analytics (4 Credits, 12 weeks)
• DATA-310 Data Visualization (4 Credits, 12 weeks)
• BUSA-200 Database Fundamentals (2 Credits, 6 weeks)
• BUSA-250 SQL for Business (2 Credits, 6 weeks)
• BUSA-350 Principles of Analytics Modeling (4 Credits, 6 weeks)
